LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS TEAMMy name is Dr. Edelita Jamis. I am an Internal Medicine doctor certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I was born and raised in the Philippines, where I obtained my medical degree and post-graduate internship. I moved to the USA for internal medicine specialty training. I was a primary care physician for six years.
I am now a private practicing doctor who enjoys helping patients regain control of their chronic diseases and live healthier lives. My practice places therapeutic lifestyle and dietary changes at the forefront in managing chronic conditions. My interest in lifestyle medicine started in 2017 when I became diabetic, overweight, dealing with sinus allergies and unrelenting stomach issues. My husband had more health issues then. He became diabetic, obese with high cholesterol, and suffered from severe gouty arthritis. We are both doctors. We reversed all our health issues by carefully looking at our health problems' root cause and making significant lifestyle changes. Our kids are on this lifestyle change too. I infused lifestyle medicine principles to my patients, which yielded remarkable results.
Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based medical specialty. It uses lifestyle therapeutic intervention, including a predominantly whole food plant-based eating pattern, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connection. I convinced my mother to do the same, and she is now off insulin after being on it for 25 years. I also managed to cut down all her other medications in half. Three of my patients came off insulin in less than six weeks. The most significant dose of insulin discontinued was 84 total units per day. As far as weight loss is concerned, the average weight and body mass index (BMI) reduction in my patients was 29 pounds and 6, respectively. The most significant amount of weight loss was 58 pounds.
Every single success story from my patients drives me to be even more determined to continue my passion. I think that I have found my purpose as a physician. I want to help as many patients as possible who seek to be free from medications and their ailments so that they can genuinely live longer, happier, and be more productive.
